MEET THE TEAM
Abigail manages project development at New Commons Development. She has more than 10 years of experience working in the public and community-based sectors in the areas of community planning and affordable housing, most recently working with Toronto Community Housing’s real estate and development division in revitalization including Regent Park. She holds an MScPl from the University of Toronto and a BA from Dalhousie University.
Dennis is a real estate development consultant for New Commons Development in Ontario. He has 30 years of experience in community and real estate development, housing affordability, neighbourhood revitalization and alternative investment strategies, with Cahdco, the City of Vancouver and, most recently, as the principal of DCarr Community Solutions. Dennis is a LEED Accredited Professional, has a Graduate Diploma in Community Economic Development, and sits on the City of Ottawa’s Urban Panel Committee of Adjustment. He is also the recipient of the CHRA 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Geoffrey manages project development at New Commons Development. He has more than 10 years of experience in the planning and development of mixed-use and multi-family residential projects in the private and not-for-profit sector, most recently as Director of Land Planning at Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area. He is a Registered Professional Planner and holds a MScPl and a BA from the University of Toronto.
Hadley leads partnership and business development for New Commons Development and across the New Market Funds platform. She has more than 10 years of experience working on issues of poverty in the philanthropic, non-profit and public sectors, including leading and managing social impact projects related to city-building, affordable housing and social finance. She holds a MA from McMaster University, BA from Queen’s University.
Joe manages development projects for New Commons Development in British Columbia. He has over three years of experience working on urban development projects and affordable housing policy. Joe holds a BA from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University.
Nadia manages project development and construction at New Commons Development in British Columbia. She has over 8 years of experience in the construction and development of multi-family residential projects in the private sector. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Technology from BCIT.
Peter is a real estate development consultant for New Commons Development in Ontario. He has more than 25 years of experience leading complex, urban mixed-use development projects for Dream Asset Management Corporation, Freed Developments, The City of Toronto and community-based non-profits. He holds a MES (Planning) from York University, a BA from McGill University, is a Registered Professional Planner and an Adjunct Professor, University of Toronto.
Operations and Finance Team
Carla leads the strategic and day-to-day operations across the New Market Funds platform. She has more than 5 years of experience in non-profit and for-profit community development abroad and in North America with Sonder Inc. in Vancouver, One Acre Fund in Kenya and the US Peace Corps in Nicaragua. She holds an MPA from Columbia University and a BA from Boston College.
Matt leads the finance and accounting operations across the New Market Funds Platform. He has over ten years in financial, operations and technology management in high-growth, for-profit organizations. He holds a BCom from Thompson Rivers University.
Andy is a member of New Market Funds management committee and is responsible for New Commons Development. He has more than 25 years of experience in non-profit real estate development including over 13 years launching and managing funds at Vancity and Housing Vermont. He holds an MA from University of Virginia and a BA from James Madison University.
Derek is a member of New Market Funds management committee and is responsible for the Community Forward Fund Assistance Corp. He has more than 20 years of experience leading community housing and development corporations as CEO of Toronto Community Housing and COO of Build Toronto. He has deployed over $500M in real estate in Canada. He holds a BA from Carleton University.
Garth is a member of New Market Funds management committee and is responsible for the New Market Funds platform. He has more than 25 years of experience in capital deployment including Vancity, Turtle Creek and Scotia. He holds Masters degrees from Johns Hopkins University and London School of Economics and a BA from Simon Fraser University.
